Viva plays guitar like a flaming sword, a screaming train, a ringing bell, and a scratching chicken. She sings like if Freddy Mercury had been a woman. She is influenced by diverse artists and styles including Jimi Hendrix, Dolly Parton, NYC, disco and jam band music, and has played everywhere from Bonnaroo with Cyro Baptista to Monterey Jazz Fest with Peter Apfelbaum. She has produced sell out music, burlesque and variety shows at The Slipper Room and Joe's Pub, and is one of the few females to have been featured in Guitar Player Magazine (2009). In 2011 she made her NYC theatrical debut as the musician in Taylor Mac's play WAAFME, which the NYTimes hailed as one of 2011's ten best. She will also be performing with him throughout this next year as part of his 24 hour long concert of imperfection.

- Big Daddy Love’s ‘Appalachian Rock’– a unique and natural blend of rock, roots and grass– has put this North Carolina quintet on the radars of music lovers throughout North America and beyond. Live, with the lights on and the volume up, Big Daddy Love (BDL) stretches the music out with top notch pickin’ and grinnin’ and delivers a stompin’ good time rich with authentic Carolina soul. Twang, rock hooks, psychedelia and lyrical complexity work together seamlessly to create a refreshing, original sound. Like a typical Southern rock line-up, the interplay between the twin leads instruments– Stratocaster riffs and soaring Allman-esque slide guitar on the one hand, and electric and acoustic 5-string Scruggs / Fleck style banjo picking on the other– leads the charge. Supported by a rhythm section that is equally at home in a groove or driving the bus with country, swing, funk or straight ahead rock, the musicians create a striking instrumental dynamic that ranges from bombastic assaults to soothing grooves. Above the mix, fiery lead vocals and soulful harmonies call attention to the good-natured, yet thoughtful sincerity of the words.

- The Boatmen are from the heart of the two Virginias. Easily viewed as rock-grass or a new-grass outfit; The Boatmen fall better into Americana Soulgrass. With diverse instrumentation and the right blend of soaring harmony over top of moonshine anthems, they have created a niche all their own. Into their third year and second album the group has continually expanded its horizons through a non-stop... tour schedule and constant support from their close knit fanbase.
Fueled by the phenomenal talents of lead player Randy Gilkey and percussionist Robert Gross; the elite heart-felt songwriting duo of Matt Mullins and Nick Durm round out the current roster of The Boatmen. What started out as a side project in 2009 has now turned into the most successful full-time group for each member's career.
Crossing genres and sharing the stage with acts like Larry Keel & Natural Bridge, YARN, Tim Reynolds, Ekoostik Hookah and Perpetual Groove to name a few. Sunny Ledfurd, a touring troubadour, stated “These guys appeal to everyone, no matter who you are a fan of musically from Tupac to Willie…Its just great music”.
